Feel like man, walk like a man

fashion, interior design, Uncategorized

This is a typical bachelor pad! Wooden floors and studio-styled place is a perfect way to explore your masculinity. Doing projects like these are actually my favourite. There’s so much to play with. But the simplicity in having a bed just on the ground makes this space feel comfortable and relaxed. The shimmery wooden floors complete this glossy look and make it that much smarter. Without the shine, I feel as though this could look grungy and rustic, more like an artisan’s studio. Electric curtains and windows finish this place off giving it a modern touch. What a beauty this is. Inspiration taken to the max. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Autumn inspiration!

fashion, interior design, Uncategorized

As summer winds down, the evening get darker and the purpose of you home changes. No longer are doors flung open with friends mingling between the kitchen and garden. Time to cosy up in the warm and relax! Transitioning your interior is easy and can come at any price point you desire. Throws are great as an aesthetic but are much nicer wrapped around yourself with a cup of coffee in hand. Maybe try tartan … Tartan always makes a triumphant return in the fall season both in interiors and fashion. Choosing more unusual blends like the ones below will add warmth and a lightness that can be lost in the darker evenings.  Candles, a leaf wreath or two and some sprayed pumpkins from Halloween are so simple to come by and will leave your home feeling as autumnal and the changing leaves outside.

Tom Dixon’s Private Party

fashion, interior design, Uncategorized

One Tuesday night, Spicer Interiors was lucky enough to have been invited to Tom Dixon’s private launch party with cocktails and canopies being handed round as though it were out of fashion. From beginning to end, this zone was filled with aspiring Designers who got given freebies and one of Tom Dixon’s candle holder as a goodbye gift.

Aside from these bonus features, his work proudly stood under a sequence of arches. He had advised a ‘setting’ in each cave in the Portobello Dock ie. a dining room, living room, and other features he wanted to highlight. His intricacy is totally fabulous. I love the way he incorporates metals and oils which touches on very deep environmental issues that we have today. Sphere8 were very clever combining their talents with Tom Dixon as they created the floors in each setting and throughout the dock space. They focus on resin floorings that are eco-friendly and have a seamless shine.

Tom Dixon sells a broad range of items such as tables, lamps, candles, chairs, but it was the lighting that stood out mostly for me. He uses metallics and other materials such as wax and oils that shimmer when light reflects and is soothing to be around. His work will instantly lift ones rooms’ aesthetic. Whether you opt for a splash of shimmer or floor-to-ceiling lustre, these pieces will ensure your interiors shine with style; he’s one to watch.

Walk into Heaven

fashion, interior design, Uncategorized

Most girls dream of a walk in wardrobe, draws, mirrors and lights to make any rough morning look better. To make your dream space come to life think about what else you may use this space for – like getting ready in the morning or even combining it with a study zone. Somewhere private and calm can be achieved through light colours and a more shut away space with drawers and less open storage. However, if the walk in will serve one purpose maybe have more hanging space so you can see all of your pieces for a successful and quick morning routine. Lighting can make all the difference in mood; whether you want your clothes illuminated for easy selection or you want a more muted and romantic feel. This space can be made so personal and is really one area of the house where guests don’t have to see unless you really want to show them. So be creative and make it somewhere you can get ready in style!

Survive the heatwave in style

interior design, Uncategorized

The next two weeks are set to be the hottest of the year in England, which is a miracle after the less than average performance weather we have seen this summer! To survive the heatwave in style here are a few tips for your outdoor décor to make the most of the sunny times…

1. Sun burn is inevitable for the paler ones among us so to keep you from looking like a tomato put up an umbrella to enjoy the sun without the after pain.

2. Stay hydrated with a stylish pitcher of your favourite drink. Sip in style and watch the world go by!

3. Make the most of the evening warmth by creating a little sanctuary to relax in after a day of work or play. Check out our previous post “Bring the Inside Out” for some ideas. Swap in some citronella candles for added insect protection!

Uncovering Cycle

Sustainability in interior design can come in many forms. A common and accessible way to make the planet that little bit healthier is to upcycle your old furniture instead of throwing away and buying brand new pieces. There are many ways this can be done such as adding new nobs to old drawers or repainting into a shabby chic style! Annie Sloan has some of the widest ranges of chalk paint on the market which can fix you up with colour to your hearts content. So throw on some overalls and get your hands dirty to make your own furniture one of a kind!

Trend Alert- Copper

interior design, Uncategorized

If you haven’t seen copper blasting through the interiors and lifestyle industry then you must be under a rock! Similar to rose gold this metal has changed up the norm of silver or gold to really bring out a modern touch in accessories and fixtures. Bowls, lamp shades, picture frames and stationary have all been touched by the copper magic. A whole house could be decorated in copper but that may be slight overload so for now maybe start with a string of lights from Anthropologie or some decorative bowls to spice up a tired room.
