Scandi Vibes

fashion, interior design, Uncategorized

By placing greenery or even white washing the walls,  your pad can transform into the new-aged Scandinavian metropolis. Everything is minimal and  rugged by using mixed natural materials such as wood and fur. Be closer to the earth by having just a mattress on the floor. These people that suit these living arrangements are relaxed, happy beings, so if this is something you feel is missing form your life, it’s time to have a re-deisgn.

‘Double up!’

fashion, interior design, Uncategorized

We like symmetry… It reflects a sense of structure, a sense of order that some spaces need. Now we’re not saying that every angle of your interior needs mirroring but what we are saying is that the odd twinning here and there strengthens the feel and look of a room without being an eyesore.

You’ll find that employing symmetry in a home can either make a room appear larger or at times even smaller. Well it depends on the patterns, colours and textures used in the space. But digging even deeper than that, Psychology would tell us symmetry influences the mind and has an impact on day to day behaviour.

Not only does symmetry simplify design; it also gives us balance and balance makes us happy. It invites harmony and the calm, a few assets that are extremely important to master in personal space.

So keep it simple and double up! Involve some mirroring; whether it’s your beside tables or the accessories on your dresser. Embrace symmetry and add balance to your space.

Beige is back

fashion, interior design, Uncategorized

For a few years now beige has been seen as ‘boring’, but alas it’s back but only if you throw some textures within it. This chalet vibe has been created using wooden panelling and dark wood as the floor, the lamp to the left, the stem being made of twigs blends superbly to it’s surrounding wood. This setting would not have been the same without the fur, and cosy rug so these two key components are crucial to the fung-shui of this room.

Coppa in Kitchens

fashion, interior design, Uncategorized

Copper is usually seen in lampshades, or crockery, or even a bath, but it never usually features in kitchens. These two photos are prime examples of why copper is such a great material to use. It bounces light like no other but also it’s easy to clean, modern and gives a room a sense of style. I love the way they have used copper pipes to hang their crockery on a truly inspirational setting. Funnily enough this metal is one of the only metals that is warm, steel and aluminium are terribly cold materials.

Referring back to our ‘The magic of movement’ post – you really do not have to refurbish your whole entire space. You can simply elevate the stories in your space by making small alterations.

Ok, so we’re going a little off topic now. Spice up that Bar Cart if you’ve already got one. If you don’t; Raise the Bar and get your purchase on!

Have a look at West Elms Carts, they have a fantastic selection and believe it or not, IKEA also have pretty cool Bar Carts…Yep, we said it IKEA!
